2008 Sadler Trip

Russell's parents treated us to California at the beginning of this month. They got us plane tickets so we wouldn't have to drive with a 17 month old and so that we could stay longer since Russell has to work this summer.

We flew out Wednesday the 2nd of July after Russell got done teaching. The plane wasn't full so after take off Russell jumped to the row in front of us and then we had room for Denton to explore. Denton did very well for his first air plane ride. He just got a bit mad when he couldn't walk around. After landing at the smallest airport ever (Long Beach Airport), we got picked up by Dan(Russell's Brother-in-law) and Papa Sadler. We all slept in Tan and Dan's apartment, which was good so then no one had to pay for a hotel and be out of the loop. Tan and Dan were very generous and let Russell, Denton and I have there king size bed to sleep in while they slept in their kids room on an air mattress(Thanks again Tan). Grandma, Papa, Chase, and Ryan had driven all morning and beat us there. Denton liked playing with Andrew so much that he would try and give him a hug and accidentally tackle him to the ground twice. After that poor Andrew was afraid of Denton and didn't want him within three feet of him the rest of the trip. Ally and Denton got along really well. Denton tried to pick her up, give her hugs, and get into her infant toys. Boy are we going to have to watch Denton really good in a couple of months. That night we tried to get to bed early so we could get up early and miss all the lines at Disneyland. Good thing Russell is like a little kid and got up at 4 am saying "I am too excited to sleep, lets go now" so we were up and ready to go with everyone a bit early.

Giving baby Ally big hugs while Grandma holds on tight.

Disneyland was great!!! Denton loved the Carousel the most I think. He kept bouncing back and forth on the horse. Russell got to ride some of the bigger rides with his brothers, and I was ok with going on Pirates, Winne the Pooh, The Haunted Mansion(in which Denton peed on me, I knew his diaper was getting full but didn't want to find a bathroom to change him so there was my punishment) and the Carousel(but that made me sick, too many circles).

The Happiest Place on Earth.

Papa was nice enough to take Denton on the Dumbo ride since dad was riding with the big boys and mama didn't thinks she should ride this one.

Friday, the 4th of July, we went to the beach about 5 minutes away from Tan and Dan's house. It was fun to bury Russell, Denton and then Ryan in the sand. Denton got sand on his hands and ate it then kept crunching on the sand with his teeth, it was sick. Denton loved the waves, well he loved the small waves. There was some pretty big wave close to shore that he was afraid of. After the beach we dressed the kids up in patriotic attire and took cute picutes. Afrer dinner then almost everyone walked to see the fireworks. Cathy and I stayed home with Denton because he was sleeping, but we got to see the fireworks from the balcony and even heard the music they played.

Denton ready to head to the beach so bad that he jumped in Ally's car seat

Saturday we walked to a small park less than a mile from Tan and Dan's house. The playground was that bouncy playground stuff(sorry don't know what to call it). The kids played to there hearts content and then we made the trek home and had pizza(giving Tan a break from cooking for all of us). This was also the day that Denton got a fever and a cold. We never really knew how high the fever got because Denton wouldn't hold the thermometer in his mouth long enough and I didn't want to stick Tan's thermometer in his bum.

We had to equally balance the kids. Me and Russell worked great.

Playing nice

He couldn't get enough of her.

Riding on Uncle Dan

Sunday we were suppose to go to church but Denton still had a fever, and Russell and I were starting to get the cold too. So we just packed up our stuff and relaxed a bit before heading to the airport. Dan drove us back and we were still amazed how small Long Beach Airport was, it only had one main building where you check in and we think only 7 gates in two separate, smaller buildings. None of the buildings were connected so you had to walk outside to get from check in to the security and gates. The plane ride home was a bit more difficult, I think Russell disagrees. It was a full flight which meant Denton was on our laps the whole time and he had less room to explore. We got in at 6:50 pm and My mother and Jackie picked us up. We went straight to the Insta Care for Denton. He got his temperature taken and it was 101.6 and he had ear infections in both ears. We got him medicine and spent the night at my parents house before going back up to Logan.

That was our Sadler Vacation. Thanks again to Papa and Grandma Sadler for making sure that we got to go and to Tan and Dan for giving us there bed, fixing us food and driving us around. It was a good vacation.
